Winner of Best Gospel Artist 2003
National Gospel Awards, Canberra

DEB FUNG
"Live in Singapore" Tour
10th-31st July 2005

Synopsis

Originating from Melbourne, Australia, the 26-year old artiste comes from a commerce/law background. She gave up a year of law practice in pursuit of her passion – singing and songwriting, with the aim of producing music which engenders an alternative answer to youth people’s struggles.

Deb Fung is an independent singer/songwriter who harnesses the power and beauty of music in communicating to people at all stages of life. With an acoustic ballad, pop/rock flavour, she loves to song write expressing the diverse experiences of life.

Coming from a commerce/law background, at 23 years of age she took the plunge in pursuing her passions for this ministry of music full time. Since her debut album “Innermost Being” released at the end of 2002, Deb has gone on to release her second album “Higher Way” in 2004, and perform around Australia in events such as Hillsong Conference and Katoomba Youth Conference in Sydney, the National Gospel Awards in Canberra 2003 and 2004 in which she received the Best New Gospel Artist 2003, as well as her own album launches in both Melbourne and Sydney.

She also performs and shares at schools, café’s, conferences, youth rallies, women’s prisons, cultural and church events throughout the year. Deb's vision is to continue producing music which is inspired, relevant and reveals truths about Life, and that her albums find their way into the homes of young and old, to encourage, comfort, and uplift people at all stages of life.

"I will not be satisfied until the entire world sees what Hugues is doing in Haiti. God is waiting for people like Hugues Bastien to step up and fulfill the call on their lives. When you look into Hughes' eyes, you see the passion of God; a passion to love at all costs. Failure is not an option; it never was." Grant Knisely, 250305

Institution Univers

Synopsis

A leap of faith motivates Bastien to establish the Coalition of Children In Need Association (C.O.C.I.N.A) as an overseas response to the desperate needs of children in rural Haiti. This non-profit entity enables him to create a school that some call “a miracle rising from the dust.” Institution Univers is a school unsurpassed by any in Haiti; and if all goes as planned, it will someday rival school systems in the United States.

“Hope for Haiti” chronicles the life of this great man, Huggues Bastien, as his past merges into the future of Haiti. Surrounded by poverty, violence, and uncertainty, Institution Univers continues to be a beacon of light in the remote town of Ouanaminthe, a reminder that there is Hope for Haiti…

Hope For Haiti earned a special mention at the Honolulu International Film Festival. See www.honolulu.festivalinfo.info

Code Red the exhibition

CODE RED is Christian artist Samuel Teo’s 3rd solo art exhibition. As with all of Samuel’s works, the rose motif remains his regular feature. This exhibition, however, departs from his usual realistic style to the exploration of contemporary development. Perhaps the most significant adventure of Code Red is the saturation of shades of red which is intense, dramatic and evokes a response that is at once powerful and provocative. Meanwhile the code “RED” remains a mystery that is left to the viewers to solve. For the strong and fainthearted.Works on sale.

JUST WORSHIP SERIES 05 : JWS01_27 : Journey of Change by Alaric Tay back to top

Journey of Change
by Alaric Tay

Journey of Change

"Alaric Tay's "Journey of Change" was a poignant reminder that the Church (body of Christ) must consistently measure our beliefs against God's Truth. Knowing that change is never easy, and often painful, Tay's film illuminates the personal story of a man, a church and a family's courageous and uncompromising pursuit of Truth." Grant Knisely, film-maker & missionary

Documentary, 30 mins
Thursday
27th January 2005
7:30pm - 9:30pm

Acts Lifestyle Seminar Room 1
18 Cross Street, B1-05, China Square Central

Come along for a night of film in worship, where local film-maker Alaric Tay shares his latest work, Journey of Change, a documentary about the Worldwide Church of God in Singapore. This is an extraordinary film about a church that had been termed a 'heretical cult' and which was willing to change for the gospel. Alaric's documentary focuses on the consequences of the changes within the leadership in the US that affected the local groups. This is a must watch for church leaders, artists willing to be used for God's purpose in their crafts and Christians interested in worship through film.

There will be a post-show dialogue with Alaric Tay. Tea and coffee provided. Limited copies of Journey of Change DVDs for sale on shoeboxarts.com. Email us to order one.
